With Halloween coming up, I thought it might be time to consider my options for my costume this year.  Over the past couple of years, I have used my MLB jerseys to be baseball players for Halloween, but my girlfriend this year thought we should do something a little different.  She is really into robots, so we have decided to go as robots for Halloween.

Instead of just going to the store and renting a costume, we thought that it would be neat if we made one of our own.  I seem to remember my father making a robot costume for me when I was twelve, but I thought that I would humor Jill this time – at least she didn’t choose something embarrassing like dressing up as Barbie and Ken.

We have drawn up the plans for our costumes and we have decided that not only will we have costumes that look like robots, but they will work too.  We are going to add a number of switches for lights and sounds as well as mounting our iPads on the front of each robot with our custom designed app.  Except for the fact that we will be humans on the inside, we should look like robots to everyone else.

I think that Jill has bought tickets for us for a Halloween party where there is judging for the best costume.  Based on our preliminary designs and the work that we have done on the robot costumes so far, I see no reason why we won’t get first place.  This is certainly shaping up to be one of the best Halloweens on record – I can’t wait!
